SCHICKER renews Diamon Fusion®'s license for second 5-year term.
Diamon Fusion International, Inc. (DFI), supplier and exclusive licensor of the Diamon Fusion® patented hydrophobic technology, signed a 5-year license agreement renewal with Schicker Luxury Bath Enclosures, DFI's first licensee and a major force in the high-end shower door business in the San Francisco Bay area.
Schicker Luxury Bath Enclosures, founded in 1980 by Swiss immigrant Peter Schicker, is a highly reputable shower door contracting company and has clientele that include large contractors and home centers such as Home Depot, not to mention many well-known kitchen & bath companies. The company has expanded its business every year and for the last 5 years, the Diamon Fusion® process has played an important role in that growth.
Peter Schicker, President of Schicker Shower Doors, reported: "Diamon Fusion® has proven to be an excellent added value to our line of shower enclosures and has certainly been a key element in the consistent growth of our business. We are pleased to sign a 5-year extension -license renewal- since it has demonstrated to be a necessary added feature in our glass products and the demand in the market place has proven that to be the case."
Adam Zax, President and CEO of DFI, said after the signing of the renewal: "We are very proud and pleased since this renewal represents a milestone not only for DFI but also for the US glass market in general since our patented process has now had an excellent track record for over 5 years in the market place. Many imitators have come, made false claims they couldn't back up and gone away; something we still see that's happening today. The main questions we received 5 years ago were whether or not the Hydrophobic coatings industry we helped pioneer, would still even be around today and if our product would be durable enough to satisfy the consumers' expectations. Schicker's renewal for an additional five year period clearly answers those questions. Diamon Fusion®'s here to stay."
Diamon Fusion® is a proprietary process (patented technology) of growing an optically clear film from the inside of the glass (or any other silica-based surface) out, filling the microscopic ridges of the substrate and then 'capping' it, creating a long lasting hydrophobic effect. This durable enhanced hydrophobicity generates a permanent chemical bond (a 'covalent' bond, a unique durable bond, unlike most other treatments available) and also provides, by a unique 'molecular change' at the surface, a wide range of additional properties, such as: added brilliance, lubricity, additional electrical resistance (insulation), scratch resistance, impact resistance (low coefficient of friction), and stain and graffiti resistance.
