Diamon-Fusion International, Inc. (DFI Nanotechnology), global developer and exclusive licensor of patented hydrophobic nanotechnologies, along with its partner, New York Poly Steel, announce the completion of the large-scale coating project for the original Tiffany & Co. building at 15 Union Square Street in New York City, as well as the adjacent HSBC Bank and Skechers glass storefronts. The project utilized the award-winning Diamon-Fusion® coating, on more than 700 different-sized insulating glass units, to protect the glass from harmful environmental elements, while helping to reduce the maintenance of the glass over time. Additional work was also requested by the client, outside the scope of the original bid, to treat a skylight, a translucent awning and a large area of flash-finish granite; a result of the client's reaction to the final product after seeing the protective coating in action. Through DFI's patented nano-coating process, the chemical treatment creates a water repellent effect which enables ease of cleaning and protection against scratches, abrasion, and environmental elements, therefore considerably reducing the costs of maintenance to the facade. The Diamon-Fusion® nano-coating is optically clear, and does not affect the natural reflection of the glass exterior.
As a result of this project, DFI and New York Poly Steel have secured additional interest and bids for other high-profile architectural projects in the Northeast region. This particular application, along with several other high-profile commercial projects, has raised awareness of the benefits of DFI's suite of products and services to help commercial property owners and developers, on a global basis, keep their buildings beautified, while reducing harmful chemical usage and the effort needed.
"This was a truly magnificent project aimed at reducing the need for cleaning and protecting the glass from harsh elements on this architectural icon. We are pleased the clients was so satisfied with the results, it actually created a larger scope of work for the project, post bid," stated Carl Christ, Director of On-Site Services for Diamon-Fusion International. "This is one of several hi-end architectural projects DFI has worked on over the past year, and it is nice to see the word is spreading among the leading fabricators and architects alike, about the value-added benefits of utilizing Diamon-Fusion® coating on these exceptional properties."
"It was a great experience, partnering with Diamon-Fusion International on a historic and iconic property such as 15 Union Square West," explained Chris Pearson, Owner of New York Poly Steel. "We see an enormous potential for the Diamon-Fusion® coating to address the needs of architects, building owners, and property managers within the Tri-State market and look forward to working with DFI again many times in the future."
